I'm STRONGLY considering a set of these for the Lincoln. 30x12x15LT for the back and 26x8x15LT for the front on some custom Diamond Racing Wheels 15x10 0 offset and 15x7 -25 offset. Wheels and tires would set me back about $1300 CAD which I find totally reasonable.

Can you fit a 30x12 in the back of your car? That's a lot of meat.

This is the same car with a mini-spool. What I'd discourage is having that much meat on such an axle...

You've completely lost it, haven't you? It's a 79 Lincoln - whitewalls or GTFAC

Yup I have LOADS of clearance. I currently have 15" between the frame and the fender . and all the shocks and everything are inboard the frame so there is nothing in the way, with the right offset it will fit no problem. BTW the stock tires are 29.2" tall so it's basically the same diameter just much much wider.

The car won't be getting a mini spool I will be doing a full spool instead. I know it is still quite a bit of force on the axles I'm not arguing that. we'll see how it works out and go from there. If I snap an axle I'll put stronger ones in simple as that.

I refuse to do the same thing as everyone else. I bought this car with the intentions of making a traditional big boat into a big ass 4 door muscle car. Yes that's going against the grain but I like doing something that goes against what the purist would go for.

It's a $1500 car that was rotting away in a field. I'm giving it a second chance at life. It might not be the lie it chose, but it's still a life none the less.

The tires might be nice but reconsider diamond racing wheels, especially for a street car. Look for regular old cragars. From what I was able to gather, they make wheels for race cars and not really to the tolerances you'd need for a street car, they're basically disposable steelies for dirt racing.

they make street wheels and take everything into effect. what your gonna be using the car for,how heavy it is, ect. The problem with cragar is that on a 15x10 it is only available with a -38 offset and that will stick the wheel out 2 inches in the wrong direction.

I initially wanted Cragars but they are not available in the right specs.

have you checked to make sure these tires can even handle 2000lbs. per corner?

I need to ask simply because I don't know.

Why would they need 2000lbs load rating each? the car doesn't weigh 8000 lbs?

The car weighs just under 5000lbs wouldn't 1500lbs load rating on each be enough?

Weight transfer in cornering. Full load of passengers and luggage. Panic accident avoidance maneuver. Any of these could put the load on individual tire(s) at over 2000lbs. each.

I did not know that but it makes perfect sense.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when shopping for tires.

Yeah, it's an important thing to consider. Say the car plus cargo and fuel was 5000 lbs, equally distributed. 1250 per tire. You enter a corner and shift 25% of the weight to one side - adds 350 lbs. Now you're at 1600 on each outside tire. Then you see a deer standing at the Apex and brake, shifting 25% of the weight forward. Now your front outer tire is carrying 1950 lbs all on its own.

With the size of your car, you can't treat it like a Miata and put whatever on it knowing that dynamic loading will not exceed what the tire can handle. It weighs as much as a full-size truck and has a GVWR of probably 6500 lbs.

I only bring it up so you stay safe, man. You don't want a blowout or rim failure under load. So, no Rotas either.

No man I really appreciate the input. I simply did not know that and my ignorance could have (potentially) got me killed. I'll put some heavy duty tires on there don't you worry about that.

I had to do the same thing with my '76 Delta 88 - her dry curb weight was 4600 lbs. Then you add oil, coolant, a battery, ~160lbs. of gas (26gal tank mounted behind the axle), 230 lbs. of driver... Her daily driver weight was over 5000lbs.

I went with 235/75/15s with narrow whitewalls and load rated for ~2400lbs. each.
